Harley's War is a solo project by former Cro-Mags singer and bassist Harley Flanagan .
history
After the original Cro-Mags line-up around Flanagan and John Joseph had finally split up in an argument and a reanimation together with Parris Mayhew had also failed, Flanagan decided to continue solo from now on. He founded the Harley's War project and hired Rocky George (ex- Suicidal Tendencies , ex-Cro-Mags) as guitarist, Warzone guitarist Crazy Jay Skin Vento as rhythm guitarist and drummer Ryan Krieger (ex-Cro-Mags). The first album called Cro-Mag was released in 2002 and was released on Flanagan's own label Loud Fast Recordings . The album consisted of own composed songs in Cro-Mags style, four demo recordings from 1982 and 1983 and a live song by Flanagan's ex-band The Stimulators (from 1982). Micky Fitz ( The Business ) and Vinnie Stigma ( Agnostic Front ) took part on the album as guest musicians . The lyrics of the album as well as the album title were attacks on the rest of the Cro-Mags ( Parasite ). The lyrics to Fuck the Middle East (Last Days) (no cover of the MOD song of the same name ) caused controversy, and Flanagan was also considered a patriot, which led to criticism in the hardcore punk scene.
After the release of the debut album , the band made their live debut in the CBGBs in 2003 and then toured the United States, where Flanagan raised this as a kind of "Hardcore All Stars" (an alternative name for the band). So played, among others, Darryl Jenifer ( Bad Brains ), stigma, Fitz and members of Murphy's Law , The Merauder and leeway with the band.
In 2009, an EP and a re-release of Cro-Mag including a DVD with concert recordings were released, in which, in addition to Stigma and Fitz, Gabby Abularach (ex-Cro-Mags, ex- Voodoocult ), Gary "G-Man" Sullivan (drummer for Cyndi Lauper and Johnny Thunders ), Joe Affe (ex-MOD), Jimmy Gestapo (ex- Iron Cross ) and Will Dahl were involved.
In 2012 the album was released in 2012 . The line-up remained with the exception of Vento, who was no longer involved in the album. Also in 2012, Flanagan signed a contract with Southern Lord to release several Harley's War albums, which, however, never materialized due to administrative difficulties on the part of the label.
