Harold Marcuse
Harold Marcuse (* 1957 in Waterbury , Connecticut , USA ) has been Professor of History at UC Santa Barbara in California since 1992, with a research focus on German history .
Life
Marcuse first studied physics at Wesleyan University in Middletown , Connecticut. He completed this course in 1979 with a BA degree . Then he studied history in Freiburg . After his intermediate examination, he moved to Munich in 1982 and to Hamburg in 1983. In 1986 he completed his master's degree at the University of Hamburg . He then began a doctorate at the University of Michigan . The following year he married Anette Kubitza, with whom he has a son and a daughter. Immediately after receiving his PhD in history in 1992, he received a professorship at UC Santa Barbara.
His father is Peter Marcuse , his grandfather was the philosopher Herbert Marcuse . He is a board member of the International Herbert Marcuse Society .
