Harro Matthiesen

Harro Matthiesen (born December 8, 1925 in Hamburg ) is a former German politician ( SPD ). From 1986 to 1991 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

education and profession

Matthiesen attended elementary school and high school in his native Hamburg and graduated with secondary school leaving certificate. During the Second World War he served in the Navy . He then worked as an insurance clerk. From 1964 he worked as a clerk in the authority for schools and vocational training . He is married and has two children.

Political work

From 1951 Matthiesen was a union member at HBV and ÖTV . In 1955 he joined the SPD . From 1966 to 1986 he represented his party in the Wandsbek district assembly , for ten years as parliamentary group leader. For four years he was chairman of the district assembly. In the state election in Hamburg in 1986 , he received a mandate and moved to the 12th Hamburg Parliament one. Matthiesen was also re-elected in the 1987 general election that soon followed , which had become necessary after unsuccessful coalition negotiations and dissolution of the citizenry. After the end of his membership in 1991, Matthiesen continued to be involved in the SPD district of Farmsen . From 1990 to 2003 he and his wife managed the senior group Farmsen 60PLUS.
