Harry Antrim
Harry Antrim , also Henry Antrim (born August 27, 1884 in Chicago , Illinois , † January 18, 1967 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor.
life and career
Harry Antrim has worked as an actor since the 1900s, including in vaudeville shows. In 1936 he made his film debut in a small role as a chauffeur in the film Perlen zum Glück at the side of Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper . In the same year he also appeared on Broadway for the first time with the comedy In the Bag . Antrim was seen in six more Broadway plays by 1945, before focusing mainly on his film career. The corpulent character actor, who was already aged in most of his films, embodied primarily authority figures such as judges, doctors, mayors, members of parliament or fathers. His better-known roles include the department store director in the classic Christmas film The Miracle of Manhattan and Van Heflin's friend in the noir act of violence by Fred Zinnemann . From the 1950s onwards he was also featured as a guest star in series such as The People of Shiloh Ranch , Smoking Colts , Bronco and Alfred Hitchcock . In total he worked on over 100 film and television productions.
Antrim took his last role shortly before his death in 1967 in the television series Green Acres , he died in January of that year at the age of 82 of a heart attack. He was married to Bernice Gorman since 1935.
