Harry Glickman (violinist)

Harry Glickman (born March 9, 1910 in Russia , † October 6, 1996 in New York City ) was an American violinist of Russian-Jewish origin.

Glickman came to the United States with his family as a child. At the age of fourteen he received a scholarship to the Paris Conservatory , where he was awarded a First Prize, and continued his education at the Juilliard School . He served as concertmaster of the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra and deputy concertmaster of the NBC Symphony Orchestra under Arturo Toscanini . He was a member of the Hofstra Quartet for fifteen years and first violinist of the WQXR String Quartet (with Harvey Shapiro , Hugo Fiorato and Jack Braunstein ) for 25 years . On television he appeared in Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows .
