Harry Nestor's grave

Harry Nestor , also Nestor Ariani , born in Franz Harry Pridun , (born May 11, 1893 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary , † November 11, 1969 in Vienna, Austria ) was an Austrian film actor in Germany and France.

Life

Nestor received his training at Vienna's Academy for Music and Performing Arts and made his acting debut in Passau in 1913 . At the beginning of the First World War he was drafted and served as a naval officer and aviator. After his release into civilian life, Nestor went to Berlin, where he made contact with film in 1920. The following year he met the director Lupu Pick , for whom he worked not only as an actor, but also as the production manager of Pick's Rex film. Nestor's character head was also seen in international productions from 1923. Since then, the actor has shot in Austrian, Italian, US and, after the introduction of the sound film, also in French studios.

Harry Nestor left Germany in 1932 and returned to Paris for a few years, where he received minor roles in two central productions by Jacques Feyder ( The Last Stage and Play in Monte Carlo ). Back at home in Austria, the actor barely found a connection to the film business. During the Second World War , Nestor was drafted again and was taken prisoner towards the end of the war. After returning to Vienna in 1948, Harry Nestor only appeared once more in front of the film camera, for a domestic production. In the same year he changed his profession and became a film journalist and editor of the specialist publication Österreichischer Film-Almanach. His already abandoned grave was in the Baumgartner Friedhof in Vienna.
