Hasan Cevat Cobanli (born October 29, 1952 in Istanbul ) is a German-Turkish journalist , author and pilot .

Life

His father Hasan Feridun Cobanli (1899–1961) was a Turkish diplomat and a son of the Ottoman general Cevat Çobanlı (called Cevat Pascha ), a companion of Kemal Ataturk . The father married Benita von Roon (1922-2010), a great-granddaughter of the Prussian Field Marshal Count Albrecht von Roon . On the maternal side, he is also a cousin of Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe , the head of the former ruling German Princely House of Schaumburg-Lippe .

Cobanli spent his childhood in the Nişantaşı district of Istanbul. He studied American and Italian philology at the Ludwig Maximilians University and graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich. He also completed training as a pilot in Germany and the USA. Cobanli works as a TV writer, producer, director and documentary filmmaker as well as a book author. He is a member of IAOPA , the German Association of Journalists and the MENSA association . Cobanli also gained notoriety through his appearances as an expert on ZDF-History and ARD-alpha . He is also regularly in demand as an expert on international aviation issues.
