Hassan Rowshan ( Persian حسن روشن) or Hassan Rōshan (born October 24, 1955 in Tehran ) is a former Iranian football player who played as a striker mainly for Esteghlal . He was also part of the Iranian national football team for a long time and is considered one of the best players in the history of Iranian football. Since July 15, 2011, he has been the technical director of his home club.

Life

Hassan Rowshan was born on October 24, 1955 in Tajrish , Tehran . His brother died in 1980 in connection with the Iran-Iraq war . At the age of 13, Rowshan moved to the youth department of Taj , now Esteghlal FC . He was also active in the school team of his Pasargad Shemiran School.

He first came into contact with foreign football in the course of a friendly match between his club Taj and the youth team of the Brazilian national football team . In front of 20,000 spectators in the Shahid Shiroudi Stadium (then Amjadieh Stadium), it was used in the last 20 minutes. Even if his team lost 1: 2 in the end, the game against this backdrop is said to have further motivated and driven him to become a professional footballer.

Club career

After Rowshan moved to Taj in 1969 , he first appeared in the first team at the age of 17. Due to strong games, he quickly developed into the top performer of his team and also attracted public attention. With him Taj won the Takht Jamshid Cup in the 1974/75 season and the Hazfi Cup in 1977 . After the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, which was strong for him , several clubs from abroad noticed him. He finally decided to move to Al-Ahli Dubai , with which he became champions in the 1979/80 season. In 1982 he returned to Esteghlal for a few games before returning to Al-Ahli Dubai for the 1983/84 season. After only one year, however, he came back to Esteghlal and became champions of the Tehran Provinincial League with his club in 1985/86. In 1988 he finally ended his career here as well.

National team

Rowshan was first called up to the national team in 1974 and was part of the golden generation of Iranian football. After all, Iran was able to qualify with him for the first time in 1978 for a World Cup, in which Rowshan scored a goal in the last group game against Peru after a nice solo. He was also able to qualify with Iran for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and also won the 1974 Asian Games and the 1976 AFC Asian Cup in his own country. He played his last tournament in 1980 at the AFC Asian Cup in Kuwait . He made a total of 48 international matches in which he was able to score 13 goals and is also considered to be the best Iranian footballer of that time alongside Ali Parvin .
