Haunwang is a part of the municipality of Eching in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut . It formed an independent municipality until 1970.

location

Haunwang is located in the Isar-Inn hill country about three kilometers south of Eching and about as far north of Buch am Erlbach .

history

A land owner "Deotilo ad locum Huneswanc" is already listed in a Freising document from around 784. Haunwang was the seat of a noble knight family in the Middle Ages. Adalram von Haunwang decreed around 1046 that after his and his co-owner's death a certain property should go to the St. Kastulus monastery in Moosburg . In the 12th and 13th centuries, Eppo von Haunwang and Gebhart and Rapot von Haunwang are documented.

The Preysing at Kronwinkl Castle took over the property of the noble von Haunwang and in the course of the following centuries gave away the Sölden and property here. Haunwang formed a chairman in the Erding district court and in 1752 consisted of 19 properties.

The community of Haunwang, formed at the beginning of the 19th century, with the districts Haunwang, Mühlstätten and Wier, came to the Landshut district court. In 1868 it had 208 inhabitants and in 1896 214 inhabitants. As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Haunwang was incorporated into the municipality of Eching on October 1, 1970. In 1987 there were 228 people in Haunwang.

Attractions

  • Filial church of St. Catherine. The current Gothic choir and the present sacristy were added to the originally Romanesque church around 1500 in place of the apse. Around 1600 the roof of the nave was raised to the same height as the choir, the tower was raised and also received an onion dome. During this time, the Gothic winged altar was also removed and replaced by a baroque high altar and baroque side altars. In 1872 the tower got a pointed hood again. The interior of the church is baroque, only a statue of the Virgin Mary hanging in a rosary in front of the choir arch is reminiscent of the late Gothic interior.
