Hauptiri is a small, isolated settlement in the Gray District in the West Coast regionon the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is around 50 km east of Greymouth in the mountains. The lakes Lake Ahaura and Lake Haupiri , as well as the rivers Ahaura River and Haupiri River are a few kilometers west of the village. The nearest town is Kopara , which has the shortest road connection to Ruru and on to Greymouth and the Tasman Sea .
In the 2013 census, the town had 531 inhabitants, 39.4% more than in the 2006 census.
Education
The Gloriavale Christian Community School is a Christian private composite school for school years 1–15 and in 2011 had 127 students. The school moved to the West Coast in 1990 and is run by the New Zealand Christian sect of Cooperites .
