Boxberger House

The Boxberger house in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is located at Untere Marktstrasse 12. It is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under number D-6-72-114-105 .

history

The property on which the property is located became the property of the family of the Kissinger pharmacist Georg Anton Boxberger in 1835 ; he and the Würzburg master builder Balthasar Neumann had diverted the Franconian Saale together in 1737 and discovered the Rákóczi springs.

On behalf of Karl August Boxberger (1808–1880), doctor and author of the history of Kissingen and the surrounding area , the architect Johann Gottfried Gutensohn built today's property around 1837/38 as a three-storey, classicist corner building. The Boxberger house, together with the Kaiserhof Victoria (Am Kurgarten 5/7), House Collard (Am Kurgarten 6), Westendhaus ( Bismarckstraße 24 ) and Ballinghaus ( Martin-Luther-Straße 3 ), is one of the town's distinctive Biedermeier buildings.

There he relocated the Boxberger pharmacy founded by Georg Anton Boxberger in 1710 and until then operated on the Bad Kissingen market square. The building, designed as a representative townhouse, is built in the style of Munich's Ludwigstrasse . Gutensohn designed three storeys separated by cornices and a flat hipped roof over a console frieze . Pharmacist Franz Seraph Boxberger (1842–1914) took over the pharmacy that was still in existence in 1871.

In 1933/34 the property was increased by one floor under the direction of architect Leonhard Ritter . A balcony added by Leonhard Ritter was removed after the Second World War . At the time of the increase, the property also housed the textile shop of the Jewish entrepreneur Arthur Grünebaum and a jewelry store of the later district manager Karl Renner.

In 1972 the property was rebuilt. At the time, there was a photography and perfumery shop on the property that still exists.
