The house Fritze was a listed building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It was located in the southern part of Magdeburg's old town immediately south of Hasselbachplatz at Sternstrasse 2 . To the south, the preserved, also listed building bordered on Sternstrasse 3 . The building belonged to the monument area south of the city center and the listed street Sternstraße 2–11, 28–34 . It was registered as a residential building in the Magdeburg Monument Register under number 094 82852.

Architecture and history

The building was erected in 1885 by the master mason and carpenter Heinrich Gose for F. Fritze. It had six and a half floors. The facade was lavishly decorated with plaster ribbons and pilasters . There were gables above the windows . The facade on the first floor was rusticated. There was a mezzanine floor with lunette windows. The eaves above it was decorated with ornaments. The entrance to the house was designed as a stepped portico crowned with a gable.

The left outer axis on the south side of the facade had a polygonal bay window extending over three floors .

The building was considered an important part of the Wilhelminian style street, which had been completely preserved until then . After a long period of vacancy, the house was demolished in April and May 2014. The green city ​​councilors Sören Herbst and Olaf Meister opposed the demolition and, as a last resort, called for the city to take over and renovate the monument. The move was rejected by the city council on April 24, 2014.
