The House of Hulst is a Grade II listed secular building in Busshook 9 in Legden in Borken ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

History and architecture

The building was built in 1677 for the Menke patrician family , who were bailiffs of the Prince-Bishop of Münster . The year of construction is marked with wall anchors above the windows on the ground floor . The house was later owned by the Busch family , from whom Busshook Street took its name. These also provided bailiffs of the Münster monastery and the Asbeck monastery . At the beginning of the 20th century it was the official and residence of the bailiff von Hülst.

The single-storey town house was built from brick over the vaulted cellar of a previous building. It stands on a pedestal made of sandstone . The cornices and window frames and roofs as well as the corner blocks are also made of sandstone. The stepped gable is decorated with volutes and spherical attachments and is crowned by an attachment with a dovecote .

There is a two-story outbuilding in the garden . The half-timbered house from the 2nd half of the 18th century is filled with bricks. It served as the bailiff's office until 1911.
