Hechendorf am Pilsensee is a village belonging to the Seefeld municipality on the northern edge of the Pilsensee in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg .

Location and infrastructure

The long and narrow village stretches for about four kilometers along the main road, on which the church of St. Michael and the village inn "Alter Wirt" are also located. The place located northeast on the Pilsensee has approx. 3300 inhabitants (as of 2006). The school and kindergarten are at the eastern end of the main street; the district of Güntering follows.

Since 1903 the Pasing – Herrsching railway has run through Hechendorf, where the Seefeld-Hechendorf train station is located. When the Munich S-Bahn began operating in 1972, the station became an S-Bahn station, and is served by the S8 line between Herrsching and Munich Airport.

history

coat of arms

In old documents, the place is also referred to as "Höchendorf", that is, the village on the heights . Hechendorf is first mentioned in a document around the middle of the 12th century. The Monastery of Dießen am Ammersee had properties here. The property increased enormously when, on St. John's Day in 1367, the Mailinger brothers gave their church treasure, the Widdum and the tithe to the church in Dießen on our women's altar, “so that a pastor could live here on the parish”. The parish registers go back to the Thirty Years' War and are considered a treasure trove for family researchers.

On January 1, 1978, the new municipality of Seefeld was created through the amalgamation of the municipalities of Oberalting-Seefeld, Hechendorf am Pilsensee and Meiling as part of the municipal reform . Their name recalls the long history of the settlement around the Pilsensee and the families who once resided here: The Counts of Andechs , the Lords of Seefeld, the Franconian Lords of Stein von Hilpoltstein , the Swabian Lords of Gundelfingen , the Preysingers of Wolnzach and the Toerring house .

St. Michael belonged to the collegiate church in Dießen from the 14th century and has been a parish church since 1455 .
