Heiko Biehl

Heiko Biehl (* 1971 ) is a German political scientist and military sociologist at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr .

Life

In 1993 he began his master's degree in political science, modern history and information technology, while he studied Lauf in Saarbrücken , Potsdam and Berlin . Biehl graduated in 1997. A year later he took up his position as a research assistant at the University of Potsdam on the DFG- funded research project “Party Members in Comparison. Participation and Representation ”, which he exercised until 1999.

In the same year, Biehl moved, also as a research assistant, to the Social Science Institute of the Bundeswehr (SOWI) in Strausberg , where he worked for four years. Subsequently, Biehl took a job as a research assistant at the Bundeswehr Academy for Information and Communication (AIK) in Strausberg, which he kept until 2006. During this period the doctorate to Dr. phil. at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in 2004. From 2006, Biehl was lecturer for general sociology / political science at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Bundeswehr Leadership Academy (FüAkBw) in Hamburg for two years . In 2008 he was also a visiting professor in the Department for National Security Affairs of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey , California.

Biehl has also been a lecturer at the University of Potsdam since 1999; he taught u. a. in the "Military Studies" course. From 2008 he took up a position as head of the research focus "Multinationality / European Armed Forces" at the Social Science Institute of the Bundeswehr in Strausberg for four years, whereupon he assumed the position of project manager in the research area of ​​security policy and armed forces at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr that he still holds today.

Biehl is a member of the extended board of the military and social sciences working group.
