Career

Heiko Meier, playing as a libero , began his professional career in 1979 with Arminia Bielefeld . Meier was a member of the squad for four years, but was only used sporadically. After ten Bundesliga games without scoring, Meier moved to the second division Hertha BSC from Berlin . With the Berliners, he was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga in 1986 and became champions of the Oberliga Berlin in the following season. Hertha failed in the following round of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga at BVL 08 Remscheid and SV Meppen .

Heiko Meier then returned to East Westphalia and joined the upper division FC Gütersloh , for which he played for two years. Meier then returned to Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 1989 and promptly became champions of the Oberliga Westfalen with the team. Today Heiko Meier is a board member of the Bielefeld amateur club VfL Schildesche .
