Heiko Rataj (born July 25, 1965 in Seeburg) is a German entrepreneur and event restaurateur.

Life

Rataj was born in Seeburg and grew up in the GDR . After school he trained as a cook and butcher. Rataj moved to West Germany as soon as possible .

Through his work as a chef, he has worked internationally on cruise ships all over the world, in Switzerland and Australia. There he made his living for a while as a mail plane in small planes.

His first projects in West Germany consisted of leasing inns on the Wurmberg in Braunlage , the Matthias-Schmidt-Berg in Sankt Andreasberg , the Bocksberg in Hahnenklee as well as the acquisition of the Bad Lauterberg Castle Cable Car and the associated restaurant.

Heiko Rataj acquired the traditional Maltermeister Turm restaurant in Goslar in 2004 . The house is next to the historic tower of the master painter (mining), in which the entrepreneur himself lived for a long time. At the end of 2009 he presented a comprehensive concept to the Lower Saxony monastery chamber on hemp as a useful plant (based on Hildegard von Bingen ). This included Germany's first hemp labyrinth, which opened on July 9, 2010 in the Wöltingerode monastery . Various spirits were also made from hemp.

In his next project in 2011 he and two partners took over the ailing gastronomy and the cable car to the Bocksberg in Hahnenklee. He modernized the mountain hut and the Bocksberg and expanded it into a tourist destination. In 2014 Rataj bought the Hessenkopf house in Goslar from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig. In 2013 he started a party location in the style of a mountain village with the Harzlodge in Goslar. In the spring of 2016, a center for refugees developed from this in cooperation with the Goslar district. The people who live there attend language and integration courses in five plastic Eskimo igloos imported by Rataj from Alaska. Under Heiko Rataj's management, the “To Guest at Friends” GmbH was also created, which is a German example with its integration measures.

In 2014 he bought the ship “ Alexander von Humboldt ”, which has been anchored in the Europahafen as an event and hotel ship with a restaurant since 2015. The ship has been lying on the Weser river promenade in Bremen since November 2016. The city built a new pier especially here, as the “Alex” is to become one of Bremen's new landmarks. In Bremerhaven, Rataj is currently having former Bundeswehr landing craft converted. The aim is also a new tourist attraction for the Hanseatic city. Rataj sailed on the traditional sailing ship "Mathilde" together with 30 socially disadvantaged or ADHD children. On the boat, the children should get to know a sense of responsibility, team spirit, life on board and community.

He bought part of a gold claim in Alaska. Ratajs Goldsuche is broadcast in the “Yukon Gold” Reality series, as Germans are rare among gold prospectors. The series can be seen on Sport1 , among others .
