Heilig Kreuz is a Roman Catholic parish church in Horn in the district of Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia . Church and congregation belong to the Lippe-Süd pastoral network of the Bielefeld-Lippe dean's office in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

history

Since 1927 Catholic services have been recorded in the chapel of the Vestische Children's Home on the Externsteinen . In 1934/35 the Heilig Kreuz church was built according to plans by the diocesan master builder Kurt Matern . In 1958/59 the church was extended under the direction of Cyrill Peuckert . The old choir was demolished for this purpose. The former sacristy is now a side entrance.

architecture

The rectangular church under a gable roof is made of irregular stone masonry. The windows are arched. The gable on the street side has a portal and merges into the roof turret.

The old and new buildings are visually separated from the inside by a wide segment arch . The old building has white wall surfaces with wall and gallery pillars made of stone. The stepped ceiling is made of wood. A gallery rises at the rear. The choir has moved in and has been raised by four steps.

Furnishing

Before the expansion, there was a mural by Bernd Terhorst in the choir room . The glass windows were made in 1959 and 1993 based on designs by Sister Erentrud Trost .
