The Holy Cross Church is the youngest of the four Roman Catholic houses of worship in the Grisons capital, Chur , after the Cathedral of St. Maria Himmelfahrt , St. Lucius Church and the Church of the Redeemer . It is located in the Masans district at Masanserstrasse 161 .
history
The church was built between 1967 and 1969 by the architect Walter Maria Förderer as a striking building with a continuous exposed concrete construction.
Furnishing
The dark interior of the church is designed in a semicircle around a wooden folk altar with asymmetrical shapes. The semicircle is angled without any curves and interspersed with 12 niches on the south wall and 14 on the east wall.
The polygonal tower connects to the building in the southwest. Four bells hang in his belfry: the Trinity bell (tone: des '), the cross bell (tone: es'), the peace bell (tone: f ') and the Marien bell (tone: as') . All four bells were cast by the Eschmann bell foundry in Rickenbach TG.
organ
The organ was built in 1974 by Orgelbau Th. Kuhn AG . The slider chests -instrument has 26 registers on two manual works and pedal . The game actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electric.
