The Heimatkundliche Mitteilungen was a magazine that was published from 1937 to 1955 by the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings . The local history messages contained small contributions to the history and natural history of the Lake Constance area .

content

The local history messages were a publication accompanying the annual publications of the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings . The intention was to split the tasks between the "scientific" writings for a professionally trained readership and the "popular" local history messages for the lay public, which made up the bulk of the association's members. Accordingly, short essays with a miscarriage character were preferred in the local history reports, often on individual historical events or art objects from the Lake Constance area. The quarterly publication cycle allowed the inclusion of current topics such as the discussion of current exhibitions. There was also the club news.

history

The beginning of the Second World War interrupted the social life of the Bodensee-Geschichtsverein because activities across the border between Switzerland and Germany (with Austria) were only possible in exceptional cases. Now the task of the local history report was to strengthen the cohesion of the international Bodensee-Geschichtsverein, but printing and delivery were only possible until 1941. The association's financial difficulties in the post-war years prevented the continuation of the actually sensible series. Between 1949 and 1955 only four issues were published, then the local history messages were discontinued. The editors were the high school teacher Ferdinand Eckert ( Lindau ), the Thurgau canton school rector Ernst Leisi ( Frauenfeld ) and the Vorarlberg state archivist Meinrad Tiefenthaler ( Bregenz ).
