The Heineken brewery (also Brasserie de l'Espérance ) is the last large brewery in Schiltigheim after the closure of the Brasserie Fischer .

history

The brewery was founded in 1746 by Jean Hatt in Strasbourg . In 1862 the brewery was relocated to Schiltigheim, the brewery was the first in Alsace to have a steam engine . In 1964 an output of over 600,000 hectoliters was achieved for the first time . The brewery brewed under the name Brasserie de l'Espérance . Between 1972 and 1975, Heineken took over the majority of the company and entered the French market directly. In 1980 the company was renamed Heineken France SA . The Fischer Brasserie , which Heineken bought in 1996, was also located in Schiltigheim . In 2009 production ceased there and some of it was relocated to the Brasserie de l'Espérance.

Today, Heineken France is headquartered in Rueil-Malmaison . In addition to the Brasserie de l'Espérance in Schiltigheim, the company also operates the Brasserie de Mons in Mons-en-Barœul and the Brasserie la Valentine in Marseille .

In 2012 the brewery produced 1.8 million hectoliters of beer. In 2015, the Fischer brand accounted for 100,000 hl of the total produced .
