Heinrich Adam Neeb
Heinrich Adam Neeb (born December 1, 1805 in Lich ; † January 17, 1878 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a Frankfurt choir director and composer.
Life
Neeb was the son of the organist of the town church in Lich. Neeb received his organist training from Georg Christoph Winkelmeier (1787–1831) in Worms, and he received further music lessons from the pianist Aloys Schmitt . He organized the Great German Singing Festival in 1838 , founded the Germania Choral Society in 1853 and the Neeb'sche Quartet in 1858 . Within the Free German Hochstift, of which he was an honorary member, he founded the Neeb'sche Foundation in 1881 to support needy sound artists , to whom he donated the majority of his fortune. He was also accepted into the Carl zum Lindenberg Freemason Lodge in Frankfurt .
According to him, which is Neebstraße in Frankfurt-Bornheim named. A memorial has been in memory of him in his hometown of Lich since 1938.
