Life
The grandson of the shipowner of the same name comes from the Amsinck merchant family, who have lived in Hamburg since the 16th century . He graduated from Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hamburg and then studied in Geneva (where he also attended the conservatory for a while) and at the Technical University of Charlottenburg . In 1914 he interrupted his studies to take part in the First World War as a volunteer and continued in Dresden in 1919, where he took his main diploma examination with Martin Dülfer in 1921 . Amsinck then worked for a few years in Otto Schubert's architectural office in Dresden before returning to Hamburg in 1924. There he joined the Bensel & Kamps office and soon made a name for himself as an architect of new building , e. B. through the club house of the Hamburg Polo Club (1928), but also the construction of representative residential and country houses. His customers included Kurt Sieveking and the cigarette manufacturer Hermann F. Reemtsma .
In 1936 he was one of the German polo selection provided by the Hamburg Polo Club, which took part in the summer games in Berlin, but only took last place there .
Amsinck took part in the Second World War as a volunteer. After the war, he founded a new office community in 1948 and, in addition to the reconstruction of buildings destroyed in the war, mainly devoted himself to the construction of single-family houses. His best-known post-war project was the Goosacker School in Flottbek (1959).
In 1964 Amsinck suffered a stroke, which from then on tied him to the bed. He was buried in the Nienstedten cemetery .
