User attended elementary school in Temesmóra and completed an apprenticeship as a printer in Versec (German Werschetz ). His five-year journeyman migration took him through Hungary, Austria , Switzerland and Germany before returning to Versec. After his master craftsman examination , he became the owner of the Guttmannsche Druckerei , from where he and Franz Julius Wettel published the “Werschetzer Generalanzeiger”. From 1908 to 1934 he ran a printing press in Lugoj .

In the elections of 1919, the German-Swabian People's Party (DSVP) won six seats in the Chamber of Deputies of Greater Romania ; Heinrich User was one of the MPs. In Timișoara, where users worked from 1934 until the political collapse of Romania in 1944 , he published the satirical and humorous magazine “Pollerpeitsch” in the Banat , the editor of which was Peter Winter .

User was arrested in October 1944 and taken to the internment camp in Tîrgu Jiu , where he met the journalist and animal writer Otto Alscher . After his release from the camp, he found his apartment and the printing plant in Timișoara looted; the rest was expropriated. On February 6, 1948, he tried to cross the border into Hungary at Moravița . The Hungarian authorities arrested users and handed them over to the Romanian border guards, who shot them on February 8 near Moravița - allegedly “on the run”. In 1969 his remains were transferred to Timișoara.
