Heinrich Behmann

Heinrich Behmann (born January 10, 1891 in Aumund, Hann. , † February 3, 1970 in Bremen ) was a German mathematician . He worked in particular in the areas of set theoretic antinomies and predicate logic .

Behmann studied mathematics in Tübingen , Leipzig and Göttingen . During World War I he was shot in the head and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class . He received his doctorate in 1918 under David Hilbert , was appointed associate professor of mathematics in Halle (Saale) in 1938 and dismissed in 1945 because of his membership in the NSDAP .
