Heinrich Bender (athlete)
Heinrich Bender (born December 2, 1902 in Lohrbach , † July 10, 1943 on the Gulf of Corinth ) was a German rugby union player and rower .
In his hometown Lohrbach, Bender was also known as Freitigs Heiner after the house name of the house where he was born . In terms of sport, he worked for the Heidelberg Rowing Club , a sports club that specializes in rowing and rugby . As a rugby player, Bender won two German rugby championships in 1927 and 1928. As a rower, he participated in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam . On August 16, 1931, he and the Amicitia rowing team from Mannheim were German masters in rowing (eighth) . In the following year he took part in the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles with the German rowing team. He fell on the Gulf of Corinth in World War II and was buried in Greece.
