Heinrich Bittcher

Heinrich Bittcher (born September 27, 1816 in Liebstadt , † March 11, 1844 in Schulpforte ) was a German Protestant theologian and teacher.

Life

Heinrich Bittcher was the son of a tax inspector. From 1828 he attended the Royal Lyck High School . In 1834 he began to study Protestant theology and philosophy at the Albertus University in Königsberg . With five theology and three philology students he became active in the Corps Masovia in the summer semester of 1834 . He finished his studies in 1837 and earned the Dr. phil. From 1838 to 1840 he was at the seminary in Wittenberg . He returned to Königsberg, where he got a job as an assistant teacher at the Kneiphöfischen Gymnasium in 1841 . With a thesis under Christoph Hävernick , he completed his habilitation in 1842 at the theological faculty of the University of Königsberg. On November 20, 1842, he was appointed adjunct and second clergyman at the royal Prussian state school in Pforta . After taking the oath of service, he was solemnly inducted into his school office by the rector on February 24, 1843 . He took up his post as second clergyman with a speech on the relationship between the Christian faith and science. Bittcher had made a name for himself as a collaborator on August Tholuck's literary gazette for Christian theology and science in general and the journal for historical theology by Christian Friedrich Illgen (1786–1844). He dealt in depth with Petrus Abelardus . His most sustainable work is the gatekeeper album. He was not 28 years old.
