Heinrich Bock (* around 1395 in Cologne ; † October 14, 1443 in Speyer ) was a Carmelite priest , titular bishop of Myra and auxiliary bishop in the prince-bishopric of Speyer .

Live and act

According to the historian Hermann Joseph Hartzheim , he came from a noble family named Bock and entered the Carmelite monastery in Cologne around 1420 . In 1422 he was transferred to the Carmelite Monastery of Speyer as a lecturer . Heinrich Bock soon took over the management of the convent as prior .

In the spring of 1426, the Speyer bishop Raban von Helmstatt appointed him his auxiliary bishop and he was confirmed by Pope Martin V as titular bishop of Myra. Bock later remained in this position under Bishop Reinhard von Helmstatt and held it until his death. In the Roman documents he is listed as Henricus de Colonia (Heinrich von Köln).

I.a. he founded in 1426 in Speyer Karmeliterkloster a Sebastianus - Brotherhood and built for a chapel whose altar he consecrated. He died in Speyer in 1443 and was buried in the Carmelite Church there. According to traditional epitaphs, he was a master and doctor of theology.

His successor as Carmelite Prior in Speyer was Petrus Spitznagel , who in 1444 also took over the office of Speyer Auxiliary Bishop.
