Heinrich Eberhardt

Heinrich Eberhardt (born September 13, 1919 in Ehningen ; † May 2003 in Leonberg ) was a German painter, graphic artist and art teacher.

Life

As a child, Eberhardt moved with his family to Ditzingen in 1926 and completed an apprenticeship as a painter from 1934 to 1937, which he completed with a journeyman's examination. From 1938 to 1940 he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Hans Spiegel and Hermann Mayrhofer . From 1941 to 1945 he did military service in Russia. After his return from captivity, he worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist. In 1950 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists Württemberg e. V. and honored with an honorable mention at the youth art award in 1952. In 1959 he passed the master craftsman's examination in painting.

From 1959 to 1981 Eberhardt taught at the technical college for color and design in Stuttgart, from 1960 also at the seminar for image technology of the Verband der Künstler Württemberg e. V. From 1981 he worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist in his studio in Ditzingen.

Study trips took him to various European countries. Solo exhibitions of his works, which mainly included landscape paintings, were shown in Tübingen, Reutlingen, Leonberg, Ditzingen, Korntal, Oberkochen, Ludwigsburg, Stuttgart, Meßstetten and Alpirsbach. Acquisitions were made by the regional councils of North and South Württemberg, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Science and Art, the Stuttgart City Gallery and various district offices. Eberhardt died in Leonberg in 2003 and was buried in the city cemetery of Ditzingen. Some of the pictures that were in the holdings of the Ditzinger Stadtmuseum were destroyed in 2010 when the Glems flooded .

On his 100th birthday in 2019, the Ditzingen Culture and Art Circle honored Heinrich Eberhardt with a memorial exhibition in the Municipal Gallery at the Laien.
