Heinrich Eckstorm

Heinrich Eckstorm (* 1557 in Elbingerode (Harz) , † February 22, 1622 in Walkenried ) was a German Protestant theologian and teacher.

Life

After attending school in the reformed Cistercian monastery Walkenried and another school visit to the Ilfeld monastery school , Eckstorm moved into the University of Wittenberg , the University of Jena and the University of Leipzig . Here, in addition to studying the seven liberal arts, he also studied theology.

1588 received a position as a deacon in Ellrich and in 1591 went to Walkenried as pastor and rector of the monastery school, which developed positively under his leadership. His work was mainly concerned with history and astronomy. The best known was his chronicle of the Walkenried Abbey.
