Heinrich FK Mannl

Heinrich Franz Karl Männl (born July 5, 1938 in Podersam , Bohemia ; † November 1, 2013 in Wuppertal ) was a German medic.

Life

Männl studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1968 from the University of Cologne with the thesis Education of DOPA in the adrenal glands of chickens and cats and in transplantable melanomas in mice . He was a specialist in general surgery , vascular surgery and visceral surgery . After his habilitation in 1978, he was appointed full professor at the Saarland University Medical Center.

Since 1995, Männl has been the chief physician of the I. Surgical Clinic of the St. Elisabeth Straubing Clinic, an academic teaching hospital of the Technical University of Munich, and an adjunct professor at the Technical University of Munich .

On December 4, 1993 he was appointed a full member of the natural science class of the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts . From 1995 to 2012 he was its secretary and from 1997 to 2012 a representative of the natural science class in the Academy's executive committee. In 2008 he was honored with the "Pro meritis" medal from the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences .

In 1987 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien de Fürstenberg and invested on May 23, 1987 by Franz Cardinal Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the Order. In 1998 he received his doctorate as commander.
