Heinrich Groening

Heinrich Gröning (born October 4, 1774 in Bremen , † March 29, 1839 in Bremen) was a lawyer and mayor of Bremen .

biography

Heinrich Gröning was the son of Mayor Georg Gröning (1745–1825) and the mayor's daughter Gebecca, nee. Kohne. He was married to the businessman's daughter Luise Retberg.

He graduated from the pedagogy and from 1791 the Illustre grammar school in Bremen . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Göttingen from 1791 and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . In 1795 he was auscultator in Marienwerder in West Prussia and in 1798 a councilor. In 1802 he was advisor to the chamber court in Berlin and in 1803 he supervised offices, magistrates and courts in the Uckermark , Brandenburg province . In 1805 he exercised the office of consistorial councilor at the Kurmärkischen upper consistory .

In 1808, Gröning was first the second lawyer of the Senate , then from 1811 to 1813 consultant , i.e. lawyer, at the Collegium Seniorum and from 1817 first lawyer of the Senate. On September 25, 1821, he succeeded his father as Mayor of Bremen and remained so until his death.
