Heinrich Haag

Heinrich Haag (born May 20, 1879 in Heilbronn , † February 4, 1947 in Eberstadt ) was a German farmer and politician (DNVP, WBWB).

Live and act

Haag was born in 1879 as the son of the wine grower and politician Wilhelm Haag . After attending secondary school in Heilbronn, Haag followed his father in the profession of wine grower. In 1904 he married his wife Maria, née Gurrath, with whom he had four children, including his son Otto Haag, born in 1906 . In 1905 he took over his father's business as an independent wine, fruit and arable farmer.

From the spring of 1915, Haag took part in the First World War as a Landsturmmann in Infantry Regiment 126, Landsturmbataillon XIII .

After the war, Haag joined the German National People's Party (DNVP). In the Reichstag elections of May 1924 , he was a candidate of his party for the constituency 31 (Württemberg) in the Reichstag voted, which he, though belonged to the next nine and a half years without interruption for changing parties and groups. In the Reichstag elections of December 1924 and May 1928 , Haag was re-elected as a DNVP candidate. In the elections of September 1930, Haag was elected to parliament for the Württemberg farmers and wine gardeners' association. Confirmed as a member of constituency 31 in the elections of July 1932 , November 1932 and March 1933, he was a member of the Reichstag until November 1933 as a member of the DNVP faction and from summer 1933 as an intern in the NSDAP faction. The most important parliamentary event in which Haag was involved during his time as a member of parliament was the passing of the Enabling Act in March 1933. This law, which formed the basis for the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship, was passed with Haag's vote, among other things.

Haag was deputy chairman of the Württemberg winegrowing association and vice-president of the German winegrowing association. He also worked on fruit growing and viticulture journals.
