Heinrich Landis (born October 8, 1833 in Richterswil ; † June 10, 1915 , from Richterswil) was a Swiss businessman and politician ( liberal ).

Landis first attended industrial school in Zurich , after which he completed an apprenticeship as a silk merchant in Lyon , Milan , Philadelphia and New York . In 1859 he returned to Switzerland and worked in Richterswil. In the years 1863-66 he was appointed mayor. In the parliamentary elections in 1878 he was elected to the National Council for the Liberal Party , to which he was a member until 1890. He also served on various boards of directors, including the spinning mill on the Lorze in Baar (1875-1915), the spinning mill on the Uznaberg (1877-1915), the Swiss credit institution (1877-1915), the Rentenanstalt (1879-1885) and the Nordostbahn (1883-90).

In military terms, Landis held the degree of brigadier from 1875 .

Landis had married twice. In 1863 he married Fanny Hürlimann (1806–1875). This marriage resulted in Clara Landis (1871-1924), who later married Federal Councilor Robert Haab , and Helene, who married pastor Theodor von Lerber: Helene von Lerber was Landis' granddaughter. In his second marriage in 1876 he married Barbara Rosine Honegger, with whom he had a son Heinrich .
