He enrolled at the University of Jena in the summer semester of 1638 , switched to the University of Helmstedt as a master's degree on February 10, 1643 and became a student of Calixt . In the disputes about the Kassel Religious Discussion in 1661, at which Rinteln Lutheran and Marburg Reformed theologians negotiated the possibility of rapprochement, he defended the idea of denominational peace as one of the spokesmen on the Lutheran side. In 1665 he himself fell victim to the Calvinization of the university and had to leave it. In the last years of his life, he worked from 1665 as general superintendent in the general diocese of Alfeld (Leine) .

Since June 24, 1646 he was married to Elisabeth Boyling (1628–1666), the daughter of the pastor at the Michaeliskirche in Braunschweig. Author Boyling and his wife Elisabeth, née. Duve.
