Martin Chilian Stisser (born August 27, 1635 in Braunschweig , † April 2, 1707 in Osterode am Harz ) was a German Lutheran theologian and general superintendent of the General Diocese of Grubenhagen and the Harz region .

Life

Stisser was a son of the later consistorial councilor in Hanover Johann Friedrich Stisser (1605–1642) and grandson of the Halle lawyer Kilian Stisser . His mother, daughter of the bailiff Martin Engelbrecht (1580-1617) was Sophia Helene Engelbrecht (1604-1656). After the early death of his father, Stisser was raised by her sister's husband, Johann Wolf. In 1652 he graduated from Schöningen . He studied theology in Helmstedt with Christoph Schrader and Gerhard Titius , which he financed by working as a private tutor in Helmstedt. In 1695, after completing his master's degree, he went on a one-year trip to Holland.

St. Jacobi Castle Church in Osterode

In 1662 he became pastor in Wilkenburg and in 1671 pastor, superintendent and collegiate preacher at the Minster Church of St. Alexandri in Einbeck . In 1704 he became pastor at the St. Jacobi Castle Church in Osterode and general superintendent of Grubenhagen.

He was buried in the castle church. His life-size portrait in oil can be found there on the southern gallery.

After his death, the Principality of Grubenhagen was divided into three superintendent offices in Clausthal, Einbeck and Osterode.

In 1664 he married the goldsmith's daughter Anna Glümer (1644–1673), after whose death Catharina Mecke, daughter of the prince. Bailiff Jacob Mecke zu Scharzfeld . At his death there were six children and 31 grandchildren. A daughter Emerentia Hedwig (1673-1712) married the pastor Jakob Theodor Eccard (1662-1713), son of the theologian Heinrich Eccard .
