RITES Ltd. ( R ail I ndia T echnical and E conomic S ervices ) is an Indian company in state ownership , which deals with consulting, planning, construction and operation of transport facilities, mainly outside India.
history
RITES was founded in 1974 as an Indian Railways company. Initially, the company mainly dealt with the management of railways outside of India, especially in Africa , South America and Central Asia . As a result, the business area was expanded in terms of content by also providing advice, planning, construction and operation of other transport facilities such as ports , airports , motorways and urban traffic planning . The field of activity was also expanded to the extent that domestic Indian projects were also taken over. The company has about 2000 employees.
