Scharzfeld is a village on the southwestern edge of the Harz Mountains and a district of Herzberg am Harz in the district of Göttingen (formerly Osterode ) in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ) with 1572 inhabitants (January 1, 2018). On the southern outskirts, the Oder flows through the Oderaue nature reserve .
history
The first written mention of Scharzfeld is in a document that refers to the year 952 and was probably forged in the 13th century. In it, Schartfelde, along with other places, is confirmed by Otto the Great as the property of the Pöhlde Monastery . In the vicinity of Scharzfeld are the medieval desert areas of Königshagen and Smerbeke .
On July 1, 1972, Scharzfeld was incorporated into the city of Herzberg am Harz.

The place is connected to traffic via the district road K 9 ( Pöhlde - Barbis ); in Scharzfeld itself it is the former B 27 / B 243 , which today run north.
Scharzfeld has a train station at the branch of the Odertalbahn from the southern Harz line . However, since 2005 this has been passed through without stopping. Until 1983 there was a stop at Scharzfeld West on the southern Harz line . The closest stations today are Bad Lauterberg-Barbis and Herzberg (Harz) train station .
