Heinrich Römer (born July 4, 1859 in Immekeppel , † November 15, 1931 in Bergisch Gladbach ) was a German climber . As such, he was a long-standing mine official , as the senior employees of mining companies were called at the time, at the Lüderich mine .

Life

Römer first attended the Immekeppel school . He then trained as a climber at the Siegen Mountain School . In 1883 he married Berta Debbelt from Münsterland . At first they lived together in Immekeppel. They had seven children. Five of them died in early childhood. In 1900 they moved to the newly built Steigerhaus in Steinenbrück opposite the old processing plant . Roman's wife died in 1908. Two years later he married Eleonore Settegast, with whom he had a daughter.

As a member of the German Center Party , he was accepted into the Overath local council in 1892 for the district of Steinenbrück . Since 1899 he was also an honorary alderman. He held both offices until 1928.

Römer came from a Catholic family and was accordingly committed. He was a member of the church council of St. Walburga in Overath . He found the way from Steinenbrück to Overath very long. Römer was elected chairman. The foundation stone for the St. Barbara Church in Steinenbrück was laid on May 1, 1914; it was inaugurated two years later on April 2, 1916 .

job

It is not known where his first job was in a mine. There is written evidence that he worked for the Société des Mines et Fonderies de Zinc de la Vieille-Montagne (AG des Altenbergs) at the Lüderich mine since 1888 . He stayed here as a top climber until he retired.

During this time he also headed the volunteer fire brigade of the AG des Altenberg on the Lüderich .
