He studied in Berlin, Weimar and Paris. 1905-09 he lived in Vienna and worked closely with Broncia Koller-Pinell . In 1908 he was accepted into the famous group of the Klimt Group, which organized the legendary art show in 1908 and 1909. A joint exhibition with Broncia Koller-Pinell followed in 1911 at Galerie Miethke, Vienna.

He then traveled through France, Bosnia and Africa for three years. In 1914 he moved to Munich, moved into a studio in Adalbertstrasse and became a member of the Munich Secession, which showed his works in 1923. In the same year there was also an exhibition in the Munich Glass Palace. In 1925, pictures of his hand were represented in the Vienna Künstlerhaus at the 6th Art Show of the Association of Austrian Artists. That year he traveled to Italy and stayed in the artists' village of Anticoli Corrado . In 1926 his pictures were shown again in the Munich Glass Palace. From 1927 to 1935, there were annual exhibitions at the Heller Art Salon in Munich. In 1929 he made a second trip to Africa with his main residence in Tunis.
