Heinrich Seewald

Heinrich Seewald (born June 10, 1918 in Kassel , † October 28, 1999 in Stuttgart ) was a German historian and publisher.

Career

Seewald grew up in Soest. He studied history, philosophy, literary studies and classical philology and received his doctorate in 1949. He then worked as an editor in a publishing house. In 1956 he founded Seewald Verlag in Stuttgart and was one of the first publishers in the Federal Republic to publish contemporary history books. Politicians like Franz Josef Strauss , Erhard Eppler and Helmut Schmidt published their memories and visions with him. In addition, he brought out top-class wine books that became bestsellers.

In 1983 his publishing house was integrated into the company of the Bielefeld newspaper publisher Carl-Wilhelm Busse and continued under the name Busse-Seewald.
