Heinrich Volrfat Schumacher

Heinrich Vollrat Schumacher ( pseudonym : Heinz Suter , born April 30, 1861 in Corbach , † March 28, 1919 in Berlin ) was a German writer .

Life

Heinrich Vollrat Schumacher was the son of an architect . He completed high school in Brilon, Westphalia, and military service in Arolsen . From 1881 he worked in the tax administration of the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau . In 1882 he gave up this post and began studying Protestant theology , philosophy , literature and music at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . Schumacher was forced to finance his studies by working as a private tutor . In addition, he undertook extensive trips through Germany , France , Spain and North Africa over the next few years . After his return he took over a tutoring again. In 1892 he settled as a freelance writer in Niederschönhausen near Berlin; later he lived in Groß-Lichterfelde .

Heinrich Vollrat Schumacher was the author of novels , short stories and plays . His two historical novels Love and Life of Lady Hamilton and Lord Nelson's Last Love were great sales successes until the 1920s ; the former was made into a film in 1921 under the direction of Richard Oswald .
