Heinrich XXXII. Prince Reuss zu Köstritz (born March 4, 1878 in Constantinople , † May 6, 1935 in Bad Tölz ) was a naval officer of the Imperial Navy, last in the rank of captain-lieutenant .

Life

He was the son of Prince Heinrich VII. Reuss-Köstritz (1825-1906) and Princess Marie of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1849-1922), daughter of Grand Duke Carl Alexander of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and Princess Sophie of Oranien-Nassau , Princess of the Netherlands.

After graduating from the Ratsgymnasium , he studied at the Universities of Bonn and Kiel .

Military career, travel and training

Heinrich XXXII. was an officer in the Imperial Navy with the rank of first lieutenant . During his service he traveled to the Japanese and Chinese empires and many other places in the world. He was named as one of the Dutch heir to the throne. In 1906 he made a trip to the USA . He has been to San Francisco , Chicago , New York and Washington , among others .

After returning to Germany , he studied from 1907–1909 at the commercial school in Cologne . During his studies he deepened his knowledge and interests in the fields of business, industry and trade. He gave up his service in the Navy. His collaboration with Professor Eckert resulted in an abundant collection of correspondence, which was carried on continuously until 1920.

marriage

On May 19, 1920 Heinrich married XXXII. Marie Adelheid Mathilde Karoline Elise Alexe Auguste Albertine Princess Reuss zur Lippe-Biesterfeld (born August 30, 1895 in Drogelwitz; † December 25, 1993 in Tangstedt), cousin of Prince Bernhard , husband of Juliana , the future Queen of the Netherlands . The marriage didn't even last a year. The divorce was decided on February 18, 1921. After the divorce from Marie Adelheid, who in the same month passed on to his younger brother Heinrich XXXV. (1887–1936) married, Prince Heinrich XXXII. not again.
