Heinrich de Briquemault

Heinrich de Briquemault (* 1620 in Paris ; † August 16, 1692 in Wesel ), Lord of Saint-Loup-aux-Bois , was a lieutenant general of the Kurbrandenburg cavalry , colonel of regiment No. 5 on horseback and governor of Lippstadt .

He belonged to the Huguenots who came to Brandenburg under Friedrich Wilhelm . He joined the Brandenburg Army and also organized the influx of further refugees. Since he was also governor of Lippstadt, many came to this region.

On January 1, 1681, he was appointed major general. As such, he and Major General Franz du Hamel led Princess Maria Amalia at the funeral of Margrave Ludwig. At the funeral of Friedrich Wilhelm he went with the generals Johann Friedrich von Prinzen and Kurt Hildebrand von der Marwitz in front of the elector's hearse. The Elector Friedrich III. appointed him lieutenant general and gave him the No. 5 Cavalry Regiment . In 1686 he increased the regiment from six to ten squadrons. In addition he received the Infantry Regiment No. 5 and the Gouvernement of Lippstadt . He died on August 16, 1692 in Wesel . His tomb was in the main church .

He was married to Marie de Meaux (1654-1737). After his death she married Lieutenant General Menasse von Dorthe .
