Kurt Hildebrand von der Marwitz

Kurt Hildebrand von der Marwitz (* 14. December 1641 at Gut Sellin, † 2. July 1701 in Küstrin ) was a Brandenburg Lieutenant General , Governor of Küstrin and Knights of St John .

Life

origin

He was the son of Balthasar von der Marwitz (* March 25, 1600 † March 28, 1657) (Sellin House) in command of Küstrin and his wife Anne von Schönebeck from the Riegenwalde house.

Career

He fought in the army of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm . On July 22, 1677 he became a colonel and commanded an infantry regiment of Field Marshal Georg von Derfflinger in the Swedish-Brandenburg War . He was at the siege of Szczecin. In October he found himself outside Stralsund. On June 18, 1678 he was made Knight of St. John.

On June 9, 1684 he became major general and in 1689 lieutenant general. In 1692 he became governor of Küstrin, where he died in 1701. He was also the governor of Marienwalde and Reetz .

family

He was married three times. His first wife was Anna von Papstein († March 8, 1666) from the House of Tankow on June 15, 1665 . After her untimely death he married Hedwig Tugendreich von Oppen († 1672) from the Fredersdorf house on December 3, 1667 .

Married on May 3, 1677 to Beate Luise von Derfflinger (1647–1715), daughter of Georg von Derfflinger . The couple had four sons and two daughters, including:
