Heinrich von Könneritz (* around 1483 ; † March 15, 1551 in Lobstädt ) was a Bohemian mining captain and mint master .

Life

Könneritz came from a Saxon noble family and was the son of Dietrich von Könneritz auf Löbschütz and Großzössen . He played a key role in the development of the Bohemian mountain town of Sankt Joachimsthal from January 1518 after Count Stefan Schlick had appointed him miner there. The first Joachimsthaler Bergordnung was developed with his significant participation based on the model of the Annaberg Bergordnung from 1509 and appeared in print in August 1518. He played a decisive role in the development and expansion of the mining operations in Joachimsthal and the local mint. At the latter he was mint master until 1528, then the Count Schlick were forced to relinquish the right to mint to King Ferdinand I of Bohemia.

In May 1525, Könneritz was involved in ensuring that the uprising of 3000 miners and parishioners went bloodlessly and that Count Stephan Schlick accepted several demands in the subsequent Annaberg negotiations.

From 1527 on, Könneritz worked in Joachimsthal with Georgius Agricola , to whom he gave helpful support in his mining research, which was incorporated into the book Bermannus, sive de re metallica . His sons Andreas (Andre) († 1549/53) and Christoph von Konritz († 1557) enrolled in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1528 and lived for some time with their brother Asmus (Erasmus) (1515–1563) in the house of Erasmus in Rotterdam .

In 1545, Koenneritz lost his post as mining captain as a result of the cession of the Schlick mines in Joachimsthal to Ferdinand I. Koenneritz now took on the role of agent for the Saxon Elector Johann Friedrich von Sachsen , until he lost his electoral dignity at the end of the Schmalkaldic War . As a result, in 1547 Könneritz withdrew to his possessions near Leipzig , where he died in 1551. In Lobstädt he donated a winged altar from the Cranach School in Wittenberg for the cemetery chapel there.
