Heinz-Dieter Wenzel

Heinz-Dieter Wenzel (born January 25, 1946 in Breslau ) is a German economist specializing in tax theory and tax policy. Wenzel also devotes himself in detail to questions on “State and Growth” with a macroeconomic and growth theoretical background.

He studied mathematics in Münster from 1967 to 1972 and received his doctorate in Heidelberg in 1975 , where he also completed his habilitation in 1982. From 1983 to 1985 he held the professorship for public finance at the University of Heidelberg and from 1985 to 1989 he was professor for economic theory at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich until he was appointed to the chair for economics, in particular public finance, at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg in 1989 was called. Since 1989 he has been head of the Bamberg Economic Research Group on Government and Growth (BERG) and from 1993–2001 was the spokesman for the research focus Integration and Transformation in Europe (ITE). In 2000 he took over the management of an international university cooperation project between the Universities of Bamberg, Budapest, Sarajevo, Tirana and Tetovo, which forms an economic research and teaching cooperation. He is also licensed to teach at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he holds lectures in economics and finance as part of the postgraduate course “Central Asia / Caucasus”. In 2006 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Tirana .

As a full professor of Public Finance, he is the MOUNTAIN Working Paper Series and founded in 2002 PES Public Economic Series as a publisher before. He is responsible for coordinating the exchange with the Bamberg partner universities University of Barcelona (Spain), Corvinus University Budapest , Technical University Budapest and University Győr (Hungary), University Vilnius (Lithuania) and Oklahoma State University (OK, USA). The chair was characterized by a large number of employees and graduates with positions in decision-making functions.
