Heinz-Gregor Johnen (born June 11, 1933 in Remscheid ; † January 30, 2012 Aachen ) was a German entrepreneur and long-time director of Zentis GmbH & Co. KG in Aachen.

Life

In the 1960s, the trained banker took over his position at the food company Zentis and supported the expansion of its production program, which was crucial for the company. Thereupon, in 1964, the owner family together with Franz Zentis jun. appointed as managing director of Zentis. In the following years, both of them jointly developed the company into one of the largest jam producers in the European Union . Until the transfer of management to Karl-Heinz Johnen in 1995, the annual turnover increased from 14.3 million DM in 1964 to 511 million DM. Heinz-Gregor Johnen then sat on the company's advisory board until 2005.

For his many years of entrepreneurial merits, Johnen was appointed honorary chairman of the Federal Association of the Fruit, Vegetable and Potato Processing Industry . In addition, on November 15, 2007 in Aachen, Ulrich Daldrup awarded him the Entrepreneur Prize of the “Business Club Aachen-Maastricht” for his life's work.

In addition to his professional obligations, Heinz-Gregor Johnen was involved in a variety of ways in the areas of culture, sport and social services. For many years he was one of the main sponsors of the Aachen cultural summer and, as the main sponsor of the Aachen Carnival Association, was the initiator of the “Zentis Children's Carnival Prize”. From 1992 to 1996, Johnen took over the chairmanship of the soccer club Alemannia Aachen as the successor to Leopold Chalupa and was able to save the club from imminent bankruptcy in difficult sporting and financially difficult times.
