Ulrich Daldrup (born September 27, 1947 in Hausberge , today Porta Westfalica ) is a German scientist, politician ( CDU ) and former mayor of Aachen . Ulrich Daldrup grew up in Brussels.

After completing his baccalaureate at the European School in Brussels in 1965, Daldrup did a banking apprenticeship at Banque de Bruxelles-Lambert (now ING Groep NV ) and then studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen University . Ulrich Daldrup worked in international cooperation ( development aid) and humanitarian aid for thirty years . He spent many years of his life in Africa and Asia. His first position was from 1972 to 1974 within the framework of German international cooperation on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development as a consultant with the rank of department head in the Ministère de l'Industrie in Rabat, Morocco . From 1975 he was a partner in a consulting company in Cologne, until in 1979 he set up his own consulting company GFE GmbH, which specialized in international cooperation. He also lived in Mauritius for several years (1991 to 1993) as an advisor to the first Mauritian President Cassam Uteem . Ulrich Daldrup joined the CDU in Aachen in 1992. In September 1993 he was elected chairman of the CDU Aachen and in 1994 its top candidate. In the local elections in September 1994, Ulrich Daldrup brought the CDU back to power in Aachen and was elected the city's first mayor alongside Astrid Ströbele ( SPD ) and Margret Ortstein ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) under Lord Mayor Jürgen Linden (SPD) . In 1999 he was again nominated as the top candidate and again won the local election with 49.5%. However, he lost his election as Lord Mayor of Aachen in 1999 with 40.07% against the incumbent Jürgen Linden, who received 52.54%. In 1999 he also became chairman of the MIT - SME and Business Association. Ulrich Daldrup is a founding member of the Euregiorates Maas-Rhein and was one of the authors of its constitution.
