Heinrich von Nathusius (born June 5, 1943 in Berlin ) is a German business manager and entrepreneur . He built today's IFA-Rotorion Holding GmbH in Haldensleben into a major manufacturer of drive components in vehicle construction.

Life

Heinrich von Nathusius is the eldest of three children of Heinrich von Nathusius (1900–1964) and Viktoria, b. Varnhagen. He comes from a family rooted in and around Magdeburg . His grandfather was the scientist Simon von Nathusius . He spent his school days in Oedt , in Kempten (Allgäu) and in the boarding school in Landheim Schondorf . Nathusius is with Marie-Andl, geb. Married Freiin von Fürstenberg (* 1949). The couple have two daughters and one son.

Manager

After completing his military service, Nathusius began his career in the steel industry as a management assistant. From the mid-1970s he was employed in management positions in large steel trading companies. From 1987 to 1991 he was chairman of the board of management of the Krupp steel trading company in Duisburg .

Founder of the IFA group

In 1992 Heinrich von Nathusius acquired the IFA cardan shaft factory in Haldensleben from the Treuhandanstalt, which was part of the former Vehicle Manufacturing Association (IFA) . Under his leadership, the company, which was initially renamed IFA-Maschinenbau GmbH, grew into a group of companies that today, with locations in Germany and the USA, is an important supplier to manufacturers in the automotive, truck and agricultural technology industries. The company, which after the renovation in 1995 only had 100 employees, employed around 1,400 people worldwide in 2010. Nathusius headed the group as managing partner until 2009. Since then he has been chairman of the supervisory board. In 2003 he was named Investor of the Year 2003 in Saxony-Anhalt . Nathusius was particularly committed to training and promoting the employees of his companies.

In December 2010, Nathusius was awarded the Entrepreneur Prize, which has been awarded annually since 2007, by the Business Club Aachen Maastricht . In the speeches given by the Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt, Wolfgang Böhmer, and the former Mayor of Aachen Ulrich Daldrup , Nathusius was described as a “ symbol of the awakening of East Germany ”.

Nathusius was also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in January 2012 ; It was presented by the Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff . The winner was honored for his life's work as an entrepreneur and as an honorary sponsor of the Haldensleben region.

Entry into the bicycle manufacturer MIFA

In December 2014 it became known that Nathusius and his children were taking over the bankrupt bicycle manufacturer MIFA . The state of Saxony-Anhalt supported the purchase with a loan "in the low double-digit million range" from the Sachsen-Anhalt investment bank and a state guarantee.

After filing for bankruptcy again in January 2017, he resigned as managing director.

According to the entrepreneur Puellos von Nathusius, sales plans failed at the end of May 2017. Whose family paid for the hall from its own separate funds. He demands the construction costs of around 17 million euros for the hall. The Puellos proposal to first rent the hall and then buy it later was reportedly rejected from negotiating circles.

Offices

Nathusius was and is represented on the governing bodies of various local or regional institutions. He worked as an honorary labor judge and as a member of the supervisory board of Norddeutsche Landesbank . He is a board member of Automotive Mahreg eV and a member of the board of trustees of the Protestant Foundation in Neinstedt . Also in the Friends of the Schinkel - an interdenominational church in Althaldensleben he is active as a board member.
